Discount Green Fees
Golf green fees can add up. Most golfers do not belong to a private country club and therefore pay daily green fees at golf courses, which can range from $20 at a local municipal golf course to well over $200 for premium daily fee courses.
Everyone loves a discount and we’ve found two resources that we highly recommend that will save you significantly on your golf green fees.
GolfNow.com by The Golf Channel
This service offers discount green fees at over 2000 golf courses in the United States and is free to use.
You simply pick your state and area, find a course you want to search for, select some dates and submit the form. The site returns available tee times at those courses at up to 70% off regular green fee rates. You can further refine your search by number of golfers, depth of discount, and time of day.
The site also returns a lot of great information on the courses. You can learn about what is included in the fee, such as golf cart or range balls. Some courses even include food.
Once you’ve selected your desired tee time, you buy your discounted green fees right there online via a secure web form. Alternatively, you can call a toll free telephone number to finish your reservation. It’s really simple to use and there are excellent courses to choose from.
The downside is that the tee times are typically non-cancellable and non-refundable after you purchase them, so be sure the date, time, and number of golfers is correct. If the course is closed due to weather conditions, you typically can get a refund.
We love the convenience of this site and the diversity of courses they offer. They are adding many new courses all the time and we’ve never had a problem finding golf even at the last minute (which is typically where the deepest discounts occur since courses are trying to fill their tee sheets). Visit GolfNow.com
and take a look for yourself.
Golf Card International
Another excellent program is Golf Card International. Couples and individuals save on nationwide golf with Golf Card. This is a membership program where you can get golf discounts at about 3000 golf courses in the United States and Canada. About 600 of those courses offer 2 for 1 golf or completely free green fees. How do they offer free green fees? There is a small catch – paying for the golf cart is usually required. However, that’s still an excellent deal!
This is a pretty cool membership club in that the discounts are typically available year round, including weekends. There are also discounts on what they call ‘Stay and Play’ golf resorts where you get both discount green fees and discount lodging.
Other membership benefits include a free annual directory of golf courses, travel discounts with rental car companies, discounts at golf course pro shops, and a member publication. They are sometimes running promotions that include a free subscription to Golf Digest or a discount at a hotel if you join.
Golf Card International has both an individual and a couples membership, which is ideal for retired senior golfers. If you travel and enjoy golf, this is an excellent and affordable program that more than pays for itself after on a couple rounds of golf.
Be sure to browse the Golf Course Directory to see the courses that are included in the program and the type of discounts that are offered. They are also running a special offer right now. Get Golf Card today and receive a free 1-year subscription to Golf Magazine.
Both of these golf discount programs are excellent and will save you hundreds or thousands on your golf green fees.
